A LIVE DEBATE ON GLOBAL WARMING
Build on the tremendous media interest in one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time!

The exciting Climate Crossfire program uses the debate over global warming to teach students about science, social studies, and language arts. Students get background on the issues from the Climate Crossfire Study Guide. Then they attend an assembly where they hear Chris Edwards, award-winning meteorologist and the weatherWhysguy, face off against Kevin O’Shea, a Harvard Law School-educated attorney and former national champion debater.

Together, Edwards and O'Shea explore climate change in a dramatic and spontaneous face-to-face exchange, complete with dynamic video elements and an extensive period for student questions. The program concludes with the provocative Climate Crossfire Discussion Guide that enables a wide-ranging classroom examination of the issues raised in the assembly. You can even opt to have Edwards and O’Shea conduct classroom discussions themselves, guiding students in turning disagreement into consensus on a question they will confront for decades to come!

PART ONE: STUDY GUIDE
Use the Study Guide to provide students with background information on both the science and the politics of global warming.

PART TWO: LIVE DEBATE
Students hear a live debate about the major issues involved in global warming, including whether it is taking place, how serious it might be, the policy options for governments, and the implications of efforts to curb carbon emissions. Substantial time for student questions is set aside after the exchange.

Use the Discussion Guide to provoke comments and questions from students about the live debate and what they have learned about science, public policy, economics, and the need for civil exchange on vital issues.
